|Round Turn and Two Half Hitches|
|While the Round Turn
and Two Half Hitches has somewhat poor security, it can serve
non-critical, general utility purposes when you need to maintain some
tension on the line, such as bundling up branches with twine. As
shown on the Power of Friction
page, making turns or wraps around an object helps take force.
This assistance allows the final two intuitive tucks around the parent
line without much dexterity, while maintaining tension. The diagram is
shown with the rope untightened for clarity.
The final two tucks can be made on the bight, and, of course, the number of turns or half hitches can be varied to suit your needs, but do not use these variations as a substitute for a more secure hitch.
